Cameron + God = Votes?

Interesting interview with David Cameron in London’s Evening Standard today.
He talks about personal and party leadership matters, as well as being very frank about his faith.
Asked about the importance of his faith, he replied: “If you are asking, do I drop to my knees and pray for guidance, no. But do I have faith and is it important, yes.”
It’s clearly a much more open answer than we’ve seen from Tony Blair in the past; and there was no Alastair Campbell trying to stop this message getting out either.
Cameron’s openness in his Christian faith could go down very well with black voters in the future. Proportionately, black people are much more likely to actively practice their beliefs. The idea of the Tory leader and possibly next PM as a God fearing man could help many trying to get over their historical distrust of the Tories.
But our current PM is a god fearing man too, I hear you say.
Well…yes.
He is the son of a preacher man, but his brand of belief comes across as all too earnest sometimes, making one think that he should have gone into preaching rather than politics.
Dave on the other hand, is hitting the right notes- a believer with a hint of skepticism.
Methinks we can look out for even more of this ‘Average Joe’ persona in the coming months.
